All you need to know about Triple Talaq Bill
Amid huge uproar by the opposition, a revised bill to make instant triple talaq a punishable offence was taken up in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. The government had brought the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) last year and got it passed in the Lok Sabha the same day but the Bill was stonewalled in the Rajya Sabha where the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) lacks majority. The Opposition had expressed serious concerns over making triple talaq a criminal offence.
